Grace Church Joins Habitat for Humanity Faith Build

God is providing Grace Church with an opportunity. Typically, you hear about Habitat for Humanity through our Youth Summer Missions team. But now God is calling all of us to partner with Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity during their Faith Build 2017.

Fox Valley Habitat for Humanity “works in partnership with God and people of all faiths and races to develop communities for people in need by building and renovating houses to create homeownership opportunities. Our fundamental premise is to help others by providing a hand up, not a handout.”

Through this partnership we, Grace Church, will have the opportunity to build a home for Rubi Mata and her two daughters. Rubi was raised in a Habitat Home from the age of 6. She is now a single mother and is working diligently to provide a home for her family.

While many other churches will be participating in the Faith Build — giving us the opportunity to join forces and help create change — Habitat requires all homeowners to help, not only with the home being built for them, but to put in “sweat equity” hours on other homes.

We will not only be partnering with the organization of Habitat and the other churches, we will have a personal commitment to Rubi and her daughters and have the opportunity to work alongside them, get to know them, and share God and Jesus with them.

Grace Church Foundation has graciously agreed to provide the funding for a portion of Grace’s commitment to the Faith Build.

Additional funding, if needed, might be raised through donations, fundraisers, etc. as we move through the project.

Please join us on October 9 as we hear more about this Faith Build during our worship service at 9:30 a.m.

Information sessions regarding how each one of us may share our time and talents will be offered at later dates.

All are invited to a groundbreaking at 1555 Solfisburg, Aurora, IL 60505 at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 22, 2016.  Questions or a desire to help may be directed to Rick and Gaye Lynn Loufek.
