Grace -Filled Yoga

By Amy Moore & Jane Abe

Have you considered trying out Grace-Filled Yoga but not sure what to expect?  Yoga is extremely beneficial to all ages and abilities.
Benefits of a Gentle Yoga Practice Include:
~ Reduce Stress
~Can Lower Cortisol levels
~ Increase Flexibility and Balance
~Strengthen the Body
~Calm the Mind
~Better Sleep
~An Overall Feeling of Well-Being

This is a faith based yoga class, which combines classical Hatha yoga with a mindful gentle flow. Hatha yoga is generally an alignment based type of yoga which links breath to movement. Mindful gentle flow is slower paced to help keep the student safe while paying attention to the alignment of their body in each pose. Poses can be adapted and props, such as blankets, blocks, straps, and chairs, can be used to bring safety and comfort to students of all levels.  Worship music, devotionals, and scriptures are woven into the theme of each class to enhance your experience, allowing you to have a deeper connection with God and yourself on the mat.

Grace-Filled Yoga is taught by certified yoga instructor, Amy Moore and she is honored to be teaching yoga at Grace United Methodist Church. Teaching a faith based yoga class had been in her heart for many years and when the opportunity to teach at Grace church opened up it felt like it was an answer to her prayers.

Amy Moore has been practicing yoga since 2001. She received her 200 hr Yoga certification through Prairie Yoga in 2014 and is registered with Yoga Alliance.

Amy's yoga philosophy is, “Come as you are." Come to yoga as you are today, not where you think you should be, always honoring your body and any limitations you may have. Anyone can do yoga, and once you let go of the misconceptions that you have to be a certain size, shape, age, or have tremendous flexibility, you can experience the many health benefits that a yoga practice can bring to you.

Being very spiritual and compassionate in nature, Amy teaches from her heart, incorporating the natural healing modalities of Reiki and essential oils into her classes with the intention to help her students achieve harmony and balance of the mind, body, and spirit. She currently teaches a Gentle Yoga for Seniors class twice a week at Just Breathe Yoga Studio in Crest Hill. Amy resides here in Naperville with her husband and 3 daughters.

Lifetime Grace Member, Jane Abe, believes in yoga and has been participating in the practice since it was brought to Grace over 10 years ago.  "It's an awesome community of people who participate and it brings such peace and calm to my life.  This practice has been my sanity!"
