Grateful Thanks to Guest Organist Jon Warfel

By Barb Ceruti

A familiar face behind our Grace pipe organ is the talented Jon Warfel, whose last worship service as our faithful guest organist is on Sunday, June 5, when we celebrate him and welcome our new regular organist, Stanleigh Jones.

Beginning in 2019 as piano accompanist to the Chancel Choir at Thursday night rehearsals, Jon moved into the organist’s seat full time at our 10:30 worship in October of 2021.

The Naperville resident is staff piano accompanist at North Central College to wind, string and vocal performers and the accompanist and assistant director of the Naperville Chorus and the Elgin Master Chorale. He has also accompanied numerous school programs and school recitals.

“I have greatly enjoyed my time at Grace, and I will miss you all,” said Jon, who has particularly enjoyed working with Chancel Choir director Peter Jarjisian.

Jon is looking forward to spending the summer with his wife, Jane, at their cottage in northern Wisconsin. But he wants us to know that he’s happy to return to Grace as a substitute organist whenever he is needed.

Thank you for your service, Jon!
