Virtual Hamball Luncheon 2020

What is the United Methodist Women Hamball Luncheon?

Alternative planned Hamball Luncheon is so many things to so many people. It’s delicious Hamballs. It’s salads of all kinds, including German Potato Salad! It’s pies, oh so many pies! It’s fellowship, friendship, laughter, and gathering of our community together to create lasting memories. It’s women and men working together, making hamballs, making potato salad, serving the public, and even washing the dishes. Yes, Hamball is all those things and more, but most importantly, it is about raising money for missions to help those locally and internationally.

This truly spectacular day, in its original format, is not going to be possible this year in order to keep us all safe in these uncertain times. This could have meant the money raised for missions would be lost.

Our wonderful ladies of United Methodist Women, however, would not accept this notion.  During this time of so much uncertainty, our mission-giving is more important than ever.  So, they got creative and decided to host a Virtual UMW Hamball Luncheon instead of the Traditional Hamball Luncheon.

What exactly is a Virtual Hamball Luncheon?

It’s an amazing way to raise money for missions and keep everyone safe. This is how the Virtual Hamball Event will work. In the month of April, we are asking everyone who would have made salads or pies and/or purchased tickets at $12 each to donate the money they would have spent by clicking here. Or you may send a check made out to Grace United Methodist Women, Attn: Grace UMW, 300 East Gartner Road, Naperville, 60540.

It’s a simple and easy way to make an impact both locally and internationally in the communities that United Methodist Women support while staying safe and following the guidelines set forth by the CDC, the United Methodist Church, and the government during the COVID-19 crisis.
