About the event
Lent Begins on February 14!
Ash Wednesday, February 14, 2024, marks the beginning of Lent — a time for reflection and preparation for Easter. Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a period of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. Ash Wednesday emphasizes two themes: our sinfulness before God and our human mortality. Our services focus on both themes, helping us to realize that both have been triumphed through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
We invite you for Ash Wednesday Worship and the Imposition of Ashes on Wednesday, February 14:
9:00AM to 1:00PM - Open Imposition of Ashes in the Sanctuary
Stop in any time for imposition of ashes.
5:00PM - Ash Wednesday Experience for ALL
On Wednesday, February 14 at 5:00PM, ALL are invited for our Ash Wednesday Experience. We will begin in Fellowship Hall for a time of resurrection garden creation and fellowship, and then move to the Sanctuary for a teaching time, children's choirs, and the imposition of ashes. Everyone is encouraged to join us in Fellowship Hall at 5:00PM (even if you aren't creating a resurrection garden) but the Sanctuary will also be open for a time of personal reflection prior to the 5:30PM teaching time and choirs.
Registration for the resurrection garden is required so we may have ample supplies. A suggested donation of $10.00 for each garden would be appreciated but is not required. CLICK HERE TO REGISTER.
In addition, if you play an instrument and it is "manageable" in size (flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, French horn, violin, ukulele, guitar, oboe, recorder, etc.) please bring your instrument with you--all ages, all levels of musicianship. We look forward to sharing with you in this evening of fellowship and worship.
7:00PM - Traditional Worship
Everyone is welcome for a traditional Ash Wednesday worship with imposition of ashes.
