The Community Calls and Grace UMC Answers!
Grace UMC has been called to put faith into action as many children around us will be returning to school without the basic tools needed to succeed.
The Indian Prairie School District reached out to us for help to meet the needs of their over 5,000 students who will be returning to school without basic supplies this year. The district’s funding earmarked for these needs simply do not cover every child, so that is where Grace comes in!
Grace UMC has set a goal to help support 100 students from Welch Elementary School in Naperville with the basic tools they need to start the school year. The school has provided us with specific supply lists broken down by grade. Complete School Supply List.
Welch Elementary has 145 students in need (Grace UMC’s goal is to support 100 students).
The breakdown is as follows:
Kindergarten: 25 total
1st grade: 26 total; 17 female, 9 male
2nd grade: 14 total; 10 female, 4 male
3rd grade: 26 total; 15 female, 11 male
4th grade: 24 total; 13 female, 11 male
5th grade: 30 total; 12 female, 18 male
Collection bins are available in the Narthex and outside of Fellowship Hall, near the kitchen. The deadline to drop off school supplies is Wednesday, August 15 at 5 p.m.
No time to shop? Chamus is willing to do the shopping for you! All you have to do is make a monetary donation payable to Grace UMC with “Indian Prairie SchoolSupply Drive” in the memo line.
We also welcome any and all support with the sorting on Thursday, August 16, from 10 a.m. to noon, location TBD.
When Grace UMC accepted this challenge, we already knew God had a plan. Now we need your help to meet and exceed our goal of 100 children and fulfill His plan for us in our community!
