Over 50 Fellowship!

Thursday, September 13, 2018

Join us on Thursday, September 13, at noon in Fellowship Hall for special guest speaker Kim R. Widup, Grace Church member, who was appointed as the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Illinois by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate.

Mr. Widup will present a discussion on the history and mission of the U.S. Marshals Service beginning in 1789 under President George Washington through today. The U.S. Marshals have been responsible for collecting the census in the late 1700s, being the principal law enforcement organization in the American West, creating the Witness Security Program in order to defeat organized crime, and participating in the battle against terrorism. The discussion will also touch on the experience of being a law enforcement officer today, the need for change in law enforcement as society evolves, the impact of social media, and the security of our churches and schools.

Sign-up will be in the Church Office until Monday, September 10, at noon. Lunch will begin at noon, followed by the program at 1 p.m. Due to kitchen remodeling, lunch will be a box lunch rather than a hot meal. $10 cash payable at the door.
