Over 50 Fellowship!
Thursday, September 13, 2018
Join us on Thursday, September 13, at noon in Fellowship Hall for special guest speaker Kim R. Widup, Grace Church member, who was appointed as the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Illinois, by President George W. Bush and confirmed by the United States Senate.
Mr. Widup will present a discussion on the history and mission of the U.S. Marshals Service from 1789 under President George Washington to today, from collecting the census in the late 1700s, to being the principal law enforcement organization in the American West, to the creation of the Witness Security Program in order to defeat organized crime, and to participating in the battle against terrorism. The discussion will touch on the impact of being a law enforcement officer today, the need for change in law enforcement as society evolves, social media impacts, and address some areas regarding the security of our churches and schools.
Sign-up will be in the Church Office until Monday, September 10, at noon. Lunch will begin at noon, followed by the program at 1 p.m. $10 cash payable at the door. All are welcome!
